Will pressure washing damage my block paving?

Not if the pressure is set correctly. Block paving generally takes a firm clean well, but too much pressure held too close can wash out jointing sand - we work at a pressure that cleans effectively without stripping the joints, and offer re-sanding if they need it.

Should I have my driveway sealed after it's cleaned?

Sealing is optional but worth considering if you want the clean finish to last longer - it slows algae regrowth and makes the surface easier to keep clean. It's not essential, and we'll give an honest view on whether it's worthwhile for your particular surface.

Do I need to be home while the work is done?

Not necessarily, provided we can access the driveway, patio or other area being cleaned and there's a water supply available. We'll agree access arrangements with you when booking.

Not every surface takes the same pressure. Block paving and stone can generally take a firm clean; tarmac needs a much gentler setting to avoid disturbing the aggregate; render and painted walls need something gentler still. Getting that wrong is how surfaces get damaged rather than cleaned.

We work through driveways, patios, paths, yards and walls with the pressure set to the material, a rotary head for flat expanses and a fan lance for edges and detail, so everything comes up clean without stripping jointing sand or pitting soft surfaces.

How we pressure wash a driveway or patio

We start with a walk-round to check the surface type, condition of joints or pointing, and any oil or organic staining that needs pre-treatment before washing begins.

Loose debris and heavy moss growth are cleared first, then the main clean is done with a rotary surface cleaner on open areas and a hand lance for edges, steps and against walls.

Once the surface is clean we deal with any re-sanding of block paving joints and apply a sealer if that's been agreed, leaving everything to dry before we hand back.

Modern composite decking and porcelain paving are tougher than natural materials in some ways but can still be damaged by concentrated high pressure at close range, and composite in particular can be scored if the nozzle is held too close.
