We treat each area on its own terms rather than running the same setting over everything, which is how surfaces end up damaged rather than restored.

Black streaks creeping up a driveway, green slime pooling in the shady corner of a patio, moss pushing up between block paving joints - it starts small and then, seemingly overnight, the whole surface looks tired and neglected, even when the house itself is well kept.

Not every surface takes the same pressure. Block paving and stone can generally take a firm clean; tarmac needs a much gentler setting to avoid disturbing the aggregate; render and painted walls need something gentler still. Getting that wrong is how surfaces get damaged rather than cleaned.

Block paving and concrete block driveways

  • Block paving generally takes a firm rotary clean well, but the jointing sand between blocks is the part that's easiest to damage - too much pressure held too close washes it straight out. We clean at a pressure that lifts algae and grime without stripping the joints, and offer re-sanding afterwards where they've thinned.

Rotary surface cleaner vs hand lance

A rotary surface cleaner spins two jets under a covered head, giving an even, streak-free finish over large flat areas like driveways and yards without the banding a hand lance can leave when swept by eye.

A hand lance is better suited to edges, steps, tight corners and vertical surfaces like walls, where a rotary head simply can't reach or where more control over angle and pressure is needed.

Most jobs use both - the rotary head for the bulk of the area and the lance to finish the parts it can't cover - which is why coverage and finish come out consistent rather than patchy.

Exposed and higher-ground properties

Properties on higher, more exposed ground get more wind-driven rain and generally less shelter, which keeps surfaces wetter for longer after weather and speeds up the algae cycle even where sun exposure is decent.

Wind is also a practical factor on the day - we adjust spray pattern and working position to keep run-off and overspray under control on more exposed driveways and patios.

Water access on the day

Pressure washing needs a reliable water supply - usually an outside tap - plus reasonable access to run hoses to the driveway, patio or yard being cleaned. Most homes in Tynemouth have this without issue.

If there's no accessible outside tap, tell us in advance and we can usually work around it, though it's worth flagging before the day rather than on arrival.

Covering Tynemouth and the wider North Tyneside Council area

Within North Tyneside Council, Tynemouth is one of the areas we visit most regularly for pressure washing, alongside neighbouring towns and villages across the same council area.

That regularity means we're familiar with common local surfaces - from older stone paths to modern block-paved estates - and can generally offer a prompt appointment rather than a long wait.
