Where downpipe blockages really start
A blocked downpipe usually announces itself during heavy rain. The gutter above fills and spills over, while the downpipe itself stays quiet and the drain at the bottom barely trickles. It is a frustrating problem, because the pipe looks perfectly fine from the outside.
In most cases the trouble starts at the top. Leaves, moss and roof grit are washed along the gutter to the outlet, where they gather and pack into a plug. Once that happens, water backs up along the run instead of dropping down the pipe.
Our gutter vac clearing works the full length of each run, including the corners and the tops of the downpipes where blockages usually begin. Clearing the outlet means the water that reaches it can actually get away.
The work is done from the ground with high reach poles, so there is no ladder resting against the gutter or the downpipe while the outlet is cleared. A pole mounted camera records the gutter and the outlet before and after, which gives you a clear picture of what was causing the problem. Because nothing is dropped over the edge, the debris ends up in the machine rather than on your walls, windows or borders below the pipe.
