Bishop Auckland is about twenty miles south west of our Washington base, well within the 45 miles we cover. The town mixes a stone-built centre with Victorian terraces on the hills around it and newer estates on the edges, and the sloping streets make ground-level gutter cleaning the sensible choice here.
We empty gutters with a vacuum on sectional poles worked from the ground. Leaves, moss and the gritty sludge that settles in the bottom of the run are drawn down into the machine, and the outlet above each downpipe is cleared along with the straight stretches. Steep streets and older guttering
Terraces off the market place and up towards South Church and Woodhouse Close often stand on a slope, with a steep yard at the back. Setting ladders on that kind of ground is exactly what the vacuum avoids. Many of these streets have back lanes, so rear gutters are cleared from the lane with the yard gate open.
On stone and older brick houses the guttering is sometimes cast iron on timber fascias, where keeping weight off the brackets matters. Vacuuming leans nothing on the run, and the camera footage shows you the condition of the gutter once it is empty. Villages around the town

Terraces there often share long gutter runs between several homes, and emptying the full length in one visit works better than clearing a single section, since debris next door still feeds the shared downpipe.
Out towards the newer estates, plastic guttering on semis and detached houses makes for quicker jobs, but garage and conservatory gutters are easy to forget, so mention them when you book.
How the seasons treat gutters here
The Wear valley stays damper than the coast, and moss thrives on the town's shaded roofs. Through spring and summer that moss washes down into the gutters as granules, settling into a dense layer that holds rainwater. Come autumn, leaf fall lands on top of it, and the combined weight is what pulls at older brackets on long runs.
An annual clear after the leaves are down suits most Bishop Auckland homes; houses under heavy tree cover, or with mossy roofs above, may benefit from a second look in spring.
