Stockton-on-Tees is about twenty-four miles south of our Washington base, within the 45 miles we cover, and window cleaning here is done on planned Teesside visits. From the wide High Street to the newer estates across the river, the town's housing is well suited to ground-level pure water cleaning.
The system is simple: filtered, de-ionised water is pumped up a telescopic pole to a soft brush, the glass is scrubbed and rinsed, and because the water has no dissolved minerals it dries without spots or smears. Frames and sills get the same wash, so the whole window is cleaned, not just the pane.
Norton, Fairfield and Hartburn
Norton's old village core and the leafy streets of Fairfield and Hartburn have large detached and semi-detached houses, many with leaded lights, bay windows and conservatories. Leaded glass and older timber frames are washed gently with the soft brush, with no ladder leaning on sills and no detergent to lodge in the leading.
Gardens in these streets are often deep, and the pole reaches the full height of the house from the lawn or patio, including gable-end windows that sit above extensions.
Eaglescliffe, Thornaby and the town centre
Across the river in Eaglescliffe and Yarm's outskirts, modern estates have uPVC windows, French doors and plenty of glass over porches and garages, all reached from the drive. Thornaby and the streets around the town centre are a mix of terraces and semis where back alleys give access to the rear windows without coming through the house.
Businesses along the High Street and the surrounding retail and office premises are cleaned as well as homes, arranged to suit opening hours.
Conservatories and garden rooms
Stockton's estates have conservatories and garden rooms in large numbers, and their roof panels collect leaves, bird droppings and a green film faster than any upright window. The water-fed pole washes across those panels from the ground, so nobody leans on the frame or kneels on the roof, and the windows behind the conservatory are cleaned in the same pass.
